Japan's First Full-Boarding Primary School
JINIS, an "Article 1" school, accredited by the Japanese Ministry of Education, integrates the International Primary Curriculum, or IPC (with official accreditation in the pipeline), into Japanese national curriculum guidelines.
JINIS also offers a farm program that includes safety and disaster prevention education in a beautiful natural environment. In addition, its boarding program incorporates learning into every aspect of daily life, including areas such as food education and citizenship by taking advantage of the boarding school environment.
Our school is situated on a green plateau, and children can use its natural environment fully during class times. Field trips, which link to in-class learning and the outside world, will further stimulate children’s curiosity and enquiry. There are trips to enhance learning within the curriculum, as well as recreational trips on weekends.
The Mission of Jinseki International School is to inspire a love for learning and sense of belonging for children from around the world in a warm family atmosphere. We promote the traditional Japanese values of respect, responsibility, honesty and politeness coupled with an appreciation for the natural world. We strive to meet the individual needs and aspirations of our pupils, preparing them to become responsible global citizens having formed friendships for life.
JINIS sets out to develop the passion, skills and personal qualities which will allow its pupils to make a positive contribution to the world. We aim to nurture friendships and foster the courage to embrace the future.
Our core values — endeavor, responsibility, integrity and courage — are designed to nurture friendships and foster courage to embrace the future. Students should endeavour to acquire knowledge and skills, driven by curiosity and a desire to understand the world. They should also be responsible for their words and actions, have the integrity to respect cultural diversity, and the courage to express their thoughts and initiate new actions.
JINIS is Japan’s first full-boarding primary school, in a country where boarding schools are not as popular as they are in other parts of the world, such as Europe or North America. Uniquely in Japan, JINIS provides an environment where children can be children in a natural setting. As well as excellent academic and boarding facilities, JINIS has a Japanese garden of over 33,000 square metres, four Japanese tea rooms, a farm and a Bizen pottery workshop.
The weekend program includes experiencing various events from around the world and extracurricular activities. It provides a variety of learning opportunities to arouse children’s curiosity and satisfy their intellectual needs.
Chef Keisuke Matsushima, who works in Nice and Tokyo, is our advisor, and he promotes the concept of umami, as well as the use of local ingredients in the menu and preparation of local products for local consumption.
